All Change at Birmingham Slow Food

We held our AGM on 19th June at Kilo Ziro Bar & Taproom.

A big thank you to all that attended our AGM, it was a very positive meeting with big changes at Slow Food Birmingham. We have a new committee chair, Jayne Bradley, Director of Foodscapes, who was a founder member of Slow Food Birmingham back in 2018. She left to move to rural Herefordshire but came back to Birmingham last year.

Candace Anderson took the role of Vice Chair to support Jayne and four new committee members joined to help them lead the organisation. The AGM was a very emotional night as we heard that founder chair Kate Smith is leaving the UK and returning to her home country, Australia for family reasons. Slow Food Birmingham would not exist without her. Her influence on the Birmingham sustainable food scene is immeasurable. We are looking forward to partnership work in Melbourne as no doubt Kate will take the city by storm when she gets back as she has done here in Birmingham.

We wish her well and we will let you all know when the leaving party is happening (Venue: 1000 Trades of course) so you can say your farewells. We are aware that some have not renewed memberships this year.

With a new committee, we are becoming much more active across different initiatives and we’d love your input. Join Slow Food and become part of the movement and work with us to drive change in our city.
